With my wife and her best friend Lorian - both addicted to anything Japanese - at Tempura Japanese Grill Restaurant in Ayala Avenue for Chris' belated birthday treat.

apathy

I'm sure somebody out there will crank out some time today a blog entry about his/her Shadows Fall experience last night. It will be a ham, full of sweeping adjectives, boring. I wish I am that blogger.

I rather not discuss why I wasn't at A-Venue last night. Too painful. Anyway, moving on...

Sunday morning now. Am I the only Filipino who's not even half excited about the Pacquiao-Marquez rematch? Does that say something of me as a citizen of this nation?

an invitation

An excerpt from Chris McCandless' letter to a friend:

"So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun. If you want to get more out of life, you must lose your inclination for monotonous security and adopt a helter-skelter type of life that will first appear to you to be crazy. But once you become accustomed to such a life you will see its full meaning and its incredible beauty. In short, Ron, get out of Salton City and hit the road."

Striking words. I think I'm gonna cry. Sob.
